Virus Inclusion Workshop, Gainesville, Florida 5/8/06 - 5/10/06 Two seats left! A 3-day introductory course for scientists, diagnosticians, and/or technicians who have no previous experience or limited experience with virus inclusion identification. "Hands-on" lab work will include virus inclusion identification of potyviruses, tobamoviruses, potexviruses, cucumoviruses, comoviruses, tomato spotted wilt virus, and geminiviruses. Both the letter and brochure have more information. Due to limited space and facilities, interested individuals must pre-register for this workshop. The SPDN is officially announcing a Coleoptera Workshop training that will be held in Blacksburg, VA from May 22-25, 2006 http://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/coleoptera/. Workshop topics to be covered include Cerambycidae, Scolytinae, and Chrysomelidae beetles. For more details, contact Amanda Hodges achodges@ifas.ufl.edu. There will be a high risk pest training and workshop at the University of Florida, Entomology and Nematology Department, UF Campus, Gainesville. March 14, 2006, 1:00 PM to March 16, 2006 at noon. Diagnosis, identification and management topics will be presented on these pests or plant pathogens: Citrus Greening and Canker, Begomoviruses, Tospoviruses, Ralstonia solanacearum, Sudden Oak Death, Soybean Rust, scales, mealybugs, Q-Biotype whitefly, Chili thrips, aphids, leafhoppers and true bugs.
