Thrips Sampling and Identification Workshop

Organizers:  Joe Funderburk (UF/IFAS, North Florida REC), G.B. Edwards (FDACS-DPI), Lance Osborne (UF/IFAS, Central Florida REC), and Amanda Hodges (UF/IFAS Entomology & Nematology Dept., SPDN, FPDN)

Focus: Sampling procedures for thrips on crops and other plant hosts. Identification of thrips to family, genus, and species, with a particular emphasis on thrips of economic importance to the southern U.S. will be covered. Hands-on field sampling and identification of laboratory specimens will be included in the training.

Location:  This workshop will be held at the Entomology and Nematology Building, UF Campus, Gainesville, FL, Bldg. 970 Natural Area Drive, Gainesville, FL 32611

Registration:  The cost of registration is $25/participant or $75/participant (with the “Pest Thrips of the World” CD-ROM included) and the registration deadline is March 1, 2006.  Space will be limited to approximately 20 participants.  Please see the agenda and meeting registration form for more information.  An invoice template is also provided for those needing to register via a purchase order.
